Von 1963 bis 1966 Jahren studierte er an der Staatlichen Bildhauerfachschule in Oberammergau bei Josef Blaschke und Julius Himpel, von 1969 bis 1971 , an der Bildhauerfachschule für Stein und Steintechnik in Freiburg und an der Meisterschule, später durch Kurse an Kokoschkas Internationaler Sommerakademie in Salzburg ergänzt. Er ließ sich als freischaffender Bildhauer in Trossingen nieder. Für sein künstlerisches Schaffen wurde er mehrfach ausgezeichnet, z.B. 1974 mit dem Förderpreis der Stadt Salzburg, 1988 dem Preis für Zeichnung der Fondazione Antonio Ratti in Como und 2014 mit der Bürgermedaille der Stadt Trossingen.Sein bildhauerisches Werk findet sich im zahlreichen süddeutschen Kirchen und Städten. Für seine Arbeiten auf Papier bevorzugt er ungewöhnliche Materialkombinationen und lässt Techniken aus der dreidimensionalen Skulpturkunst einfließen, die den Arbeiten Plastizität verleihen.
